Home Security Tips Over The Holiday Season

Don’t Publicise your absence

When leaving for more than a day ask a friend or a trusted neighbor to collect your mail and keep an eye on your home. When leaving for long trips consider setting up a timing system to turn lights or radio on to give the idea that’s someone’s at home. As much as possible avoid posting your trips in social media while gone.

Hide Christmas gift and packages

There’s nothing like seeing that Christmas tree twinkling in the front room. But those big, boxed gifts around it? That’s like window shopping to the Wet Bandits. Move those presents out of sight from people creeping by and looking for easy pickings.

And don’t forget to take care of gifts you haven’t received yet. Thieves like to strike when there’s an Amazon Prime delivery or other package left unguarded on the porch. Consider adding a doorbell cam or other outdoor security camera to help deter porch pirates. Another smart move is to give delivery people special instructions about where to leave packages. If you’re expecting lots of deliveries, consider renting out a package locker (Amazon Prime members have access for free) or investing in a secure drop box to keep on your porch.

Secure Garage

Use blinds on your garage windows, this is to prevent potential thieves from seeing when your car is gone. This will also prevent thieves seeing valuable items inside your home. Secure tools and ladder that maybe used to force entry.

Remove Obstructions

When choosing a home to invade a burglar will most definitely choose a home that is concealed with tall trees, this will give them sufficient privacy when tampering your doors or window.

Alarms

Installing alarms comes in handy if your mostly and about, it is a low-voltage electrical circuit that has sensors on your window and doors it will trigger a siren or a strobe light that will alarm people nearby which will make it impossible for a thieve to stay.

Install Security System

ASIAL (Australia Security Industry Associated Limited) provides a mark of distinction. To be a member a security company has to meet the highest standards of quality service.
